John Murphy, APTA's first vice president, recently resigned from the Franklin County Planning and Zoning Commission. John was a real asset to this commission. He actively supported and pushed for responsible development in Franklin County--often in the face of strong political opposition. That's the bad news.

The good news is that at the Tuesday, February 5, meeting of the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners Vicki Barnett was appointed to replace John on the planning and zoning commission. Although I may be slightly prejudiced, I believe Vicki will aggressively stand up for responsible development and compliance with the county's land management and comprehensive plans. Vicki's appointment keeps an APTA member on the commission and is the direct result of the efforts of our county commissioner, cheryl Sanders.
