I am attaching information from Doug Delano of Arvida regarding a planned February 5 presentation about  plans for and the status of the SummerCamp development.  The presentation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Alligator Point Fire House. This is not an APTA sponsored presentation.

Another presentation will be made at Chillis Hall in Lanark Village on February 7 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.. The attachment is a PDF file and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the attachment.

The Summer Camp development encompasses approximately 800 acres, will consist of approximately 499 cottages between 1,000-1,700 square feet and homes up to 3,000 square feet, and will extend from just west of St. Theresa to just east of Lorenzo's restaurant.

Along with Paul Johnson, representing APECO, I toured the proposed development site last week with Mr. Delano.  During the tour Mr. Delano advised that Arvida is still planning to put what looks like, smells like and walks like a full-service marina on the property which will have a restaurant, marina store, dry dock storage for 250 boats, approximately 24 wet slips, and a fueling area (Those of you who were present at Mr. Delano's presentation to APTA last Fall will recall  his comments regarding only a "small boat-launch area" being planned for the development).  Mr. Delano stated that Arvida is still negotiating with FSU to buy the FSU property across the canal from the FSU Marine Laboratory for their marina site. Mr. Delano showed us an alternate marina site about a half mile west of the marine lab at an old military dock area dredged in the 1940s, which Mr. Delano said provides a five-foot deep channel to the Gulf (It should be noted that both of the prospective marina sites are within the boundaries of the Alligator Harbor Aquatic Preserve, which extends well west of Alligator Harbor). Mr. Delano stated that Timber Island in Carabelle is not being considered as a possible marina site for this project as Arvida wants an on-site marina. Mr. Delono noted, however, that Arvida is looking at Timber Island as a potential marina site for other Arvida developments. I am attaching a map of the development which Mr. Delano provided subsequent to our tour. This is also a PDF file and will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it.

Hi Linc,

I enjoyed our tour last week. I hope you agree that we are planning a very sensitive and tasteful project that will have little if any negative impact on the area. I know we have a lot of analysis to do before we can add the small marina to the project, and that will take quite a bit more time before anything happens there. am attaching the ad for two scheduled Open House meetings. Hope you and your organization members can join us at one or the other.
