SummerCamp hearing Jan. 21 (c) Apalachicola Times At the Dec. 16 meeting of the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners , Billy Buzzett, director of strategic planning for the St, Joe Company, addressed the board regarding the company's responses to the DCA (Department of Community Affairs) concerns regarding the SummerCamp development. At the previous meeting, Buzzett presented for commissioners' review a thick packet of documents , which comprised the company's proposed solutions to objections and concerns voiced by the DCA in June. County Planner Alan Pierce told the board that he could provide a brief overview if the board wanted to hear it then, or could schedule a public hearing and hear it at that time. The board discussed possible times to hold the hearing, and ultimately decided to do it within the Jan. 21 regularly scheduled meeting. Pierce told commissioners this would be an adoption hearing, and they could decide at that time to accept St. Joe's proposals for amending the current Comprehensive Plan to accommodate the SummerCamp project. The existing comp plan will undergo a revision process over the next 18 months, to bring it up-to-date under Florida Statute, but any amendments made to the current plan would probably remain in effect. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the new courthouse annex in Apalachicola. |
