Hi Everyone!
Wanted to let you all know that we never received the mean high water survey form the developer so that we could have it reviewed by an independent surveyor and DEP.  Debbie Holton (attorney for J. Don Nichols),   had told us it would be completed by Friday, Dec 7.  I contacted her on Dec 7,  but she informed me that it had been completed,  but the report had not been written yet, but that as soon as it was ready,  she would send a copy to the county planner and to our attorney.   As of Friday, Dec 14, neither the county planner nor our attorney had received anything.   I was informed by county planner, Alan Pierce, this morning that he received a phone call from Debbie Holton (attorney for J. Don Nichols),  informing him that they would not be presenting the Hidden Harbor Development proposal at the county commission meeting tomorrow as they were having problems compiling the data to write the report on the Mean High Water survey that they were instructed to have done to prove ownership of the submerged lands of the aquatic preserve that they claim to own.  The next county commission meeting is on Jan 2.  I will keep you posted on any further developments.
I would like to remind everyone that this is going to be a particularly difficult holiday for many in Franklin county.  Our seafood workers and oystermen have been hit especially hard these past couple of months due to the red tide making it impossible for them to work.  The employees of the IGA are also now unemployed since the store burned down.
If anyone would like to help these families in need, call Tim Turner (653-8977) at Helping Hands or send contributions to Helping Hands at 105 12th St in Apalachicola, 32320.  His organization, Helping Hands, is paying utility bills for families and collecting presents for Christmas.   The smallest donation or toy could make a big difference for a family on Christmas day.
Happy Holidays to you All!
Vicki
